(November, 1980) The word gnome comes from a German word meaning “earth dweller.” In fact, some 14th century stories depict Gnomes as miners. It is only fitting, therefore, that Rocky has a pick prepared to mine some coal. His coin is a piece of “script” from a West Virginia coal mining company store.
