(July, 1996) You just never know what the New Year will bring! The bear cub was quite surprised when he was chosen to be the New Year’s Baby. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it. So it’s on with the official 1998 banner, with a little help from his Gnome buddy. Still, it’s an honor, to be sure, and he’ll do his best to represent the hopes and dreams of the beckoning future. The French centime shows a “1” in honor of January 1, the first day of the new year. It’s almost time for the New Year’s Eve celebration. The bear cub is a reluctant celebrity, but he has the support of his friends. The Gnome’s advice for him and his new year: Grin and bear it!
